PHOTOVOLTAIC SERVICES (PV - SOLAR ELECTRIC)
Grid-Tied System
Solar electricity produced from a PV system feeds the loads in your
home. The excess is sent to the power company. The electric grid "stores" the
power produced by your system while you are not using it.
A net meter is installed to measure the amount of electricity the system produces. The meter spins backward when power is being produced. At night the PV system shuts down.
The net meter monitors how much electricity is being produced versus how much is being used.
Solar can be used in conjunction with any electric load including appliances, motors and pumps. A PV system can be used to power a geothermal system.
If you are building a new home or planning a renovation, this hybrid system is one of the best ways to go carbon neutral.
Battery Based PV System
A battery based system is used when the electric grid is inaccessible.
Solar can bring power to remote locations such as island homes or
country cabins.
During the day a PV panel produces power. Batteries store the power and make it usable for electric loads such as lights, radio, outlets, etc. Solar battery-based systems are also used to power boats, light posts or signs.
ELECTRIC SERVICES
Service Change and Upgrade
Removing and/or replacing the existing wiring including the meter and
distribution panel that connects a home to the utility.
OTHER RENEWABLE ELECTRIC SERVICES
Wind Turbines
Connecticut has many small and unique locations that produce enough
wind to generate electricity. Waldo Renewable is trained to install
small wind turbines.
We recommend installing an anemometer as soon as possible to measure wind speeds. We are available to wire and service wind turbines.
